Maid Marian Way, Nottingham – Bat Survey

This Site is a the former rectory next to St Nic’s Church in the city centre of Nottingham. It was a pleasure to be involved in a community project like this – the rectory is used by a number of community groups, and the proposed modernisation will increase the building’s scope for community events, and disabled access.

The building is certainly suitable for roosting bats, and so after my initial day time roost assessment, further investigation is needed to observe for bats flying to and from the building in the summer.

Typically planning applications are not determined while there are outstanding wildlife surveys. However, in this case, planning has been granted based on the preliminary survey with a condition to complete evening surveys prior to works beginning.   This is a pragmatic approach which will allow the Church to continue to fundraise knowing that planning has been granted.

Got a similar project in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, or Staffordshire that needs a bat survey?
