I was instructed by the client to undertake a Preliminary Roost Assessment (PRA) in Southwell, Nottinghamshire of a brick-built terraced house. The proposed works included remodelling the ground floor extension, installing roof lights, and converting the loft space.
During the survey, I identified some potential roosting features (PRFs) in the building. However, after a thorough assessment, I determined that these features either weren’t suitable for bat roosts or would not be impacted by the proposed works. As a result, no further surveys for bats were needed, saving the client both time and money.
To ensure the project also contributes to local wildlife, I recommended incorporating bird, bat, and bee boxes into the scheme for ecological enhancement.
This proactive and efficient approach helped the client stay on track with their plans, while ensuring full compliance with wildlife protection laws without the need for costly additional surveys.
