Ashover Hay, Derbyshire – Bat Survey

Although there are features in which bats could roost in this barn (behind OSB at the gable ends and internal walls), I concluded that there is negligible potential for an extant bat roost at this site. The building is very new and I was able to conduct a thorough survey, including examination of crevices with an endoscope and inspection mirror.

The Biodiversity Officer commented

We can confirm the survey and report has been completed according to good practice guidelines and no evidence of roosting bats was identified within the building. No further surveys are required and we fully support the recommendations within the bat report for the inclusion of bat roosting and bird nesting opportunities.

Planning was granted with a simple condition to erect a few bat and bird boxes.

Got a similar project in Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire or Staffordshire that needs a bat survey?
